NUMISMATA Vienna – The new Coin Fair in the Heart of the Habsburg Empire
The astonishing great success of the NUMISMATA Vienna/Austria last years evidences that the famous specialised coin fair from Germany has established a new numismatic meeting point also in Vienna. On 16 and 17 April 2011 the NUMISMATA will be held for the third time in the heart of the former Habsburg Empire. The International STAMPS FAIR will take place on the same days in the same hall and visitors can attend both fairs with the same ticket. Visitors from all over Europe are expected to attend; because of its location the fair will be in easy reach of customers from Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Hungary, Poland, and Northern Italy. All participants look forward to the usual excellent organisation offered by Erich Modes, the NUMISMATA organizer.

Each NUMISMATA has something special to offer. For the visitor the fair provides a great opportunity to meet and buy from prominent names in the worldwide numismatic trade. For companies and sales houses it offers a fantastic and well-organized environment in which to do business – something appreciated by both private customers and experts alike. Due to these factors the NUMISMATA fairs in Munich, Berlin, Frankfurt and now also in Vienna have become recognised venues for the Classical Numismatics trade, events at which collectors and dealers can meet face to face.

The NUMISMATA offers one fair per year in each of the various regions. The first takes place in Munich, in Southern Germany, in early March; the second in the German capital, Berlin, in October, and the third in Frankfurt, Central Germany, in early November. The new Austrian NUMISMATA in Vienna can therefore be seen as a valuable addition, and a convenient one for collectors in the new EU member states in Eastern Europe, who in recent years have become increasingly interested in the international coin market: NUMISMATA Vienna aims to help bridge the gap between East and West.

Erich Modes has definitely succeeded in finding a venue which visitors appreciate: the Reed Fair Vienna congress hall is a modern, well-equipped centre situated next to the famous Vienna Prater. It is easily accessible by public transport, but it is equally well connected to the road network and offers ample parking facilities.

Vienna has been a centre for numismatics for centuries – this is evident not only from the many museums there but, also from the fact that the city boasts the only university department, where numismatics can be studied as a principal subject. Due to the numerous auction houses, coins dealers and antique-shops, every coin collector will soon realize that a trip to Vienna is always worth it, especially when the NUMISMATA provides an additional attraction.
